Mr. Espresso, a long-time Oakland coffee roaster known for their not-so-great diner and hotel coffee, opens its first brick-and-mortar downtown with something new – good beans. The Caffe is an expression of a modern Italian Caffe. Approach the bar wherever you please and someone will help you. There is standing room around the helm with seating along the backside of the bar, hidden and charming. They’ve got a menu of classic drinks alongside new-age inspirations, two contrasting filter brews on hand, and baristas who know how to pour a good cap. The Caffe’s staff makes it easy to become a regular – bright and welcoming with just enough conversation to make you feel at home.
